Within the dynamic landscape of the Research Section, our units and facilities stand as pillars of innovation and progress. The three units have been established with following objectives and vision.
Centralized Core Research Facility (CCRF)

CCRF is a unit with high end instrumentation for various streams of research at AIIMS, New Delhi. CCRF houses core instrumentation facility for genomics, proteomics, BSL-3, microscopy, general facility, flow cytometry, bioinformatics, bioanalytics and other areas.
The objectives of CCRF is to create a comprehensive and state-of-the-art facility with advanced platform technologies for cutting-edge research in applied genomics, proteomics, immunology, microbiology, bioanalytics, microscopy, bioinformatics and others.
Clinical Research Unit (CRU)
The overarching goal of the CRU is to provide resources and services to advance clinical research and inform the best practices for clinical research. It will be a core facility with centralized and shared resources. It shall work as a specialized biomedical research unit that shall help to design and centrally coordinate clinical research by assisting in the development, application, and implementation of investigator-initiated studies in compliance with the best practices.
The CRU envisages but is not restricted to the following types of studies: investigator-initiated clinical trials, cohort, case-control, cross-sectional studies as well as the studies evaluating diagnostic tests. The aim is to facilitate practice-changing research at AIIMS, addressing the critical priorities of the country in disease diagnosis, prevention and treatment.
Centre for Medical Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CMIE)
CMIE at AIIMS, New Delhi is a Bio-Incubator under the BIRAC – BioNEST Scheme. CMIE is laser-focused on working in open innovation ecosystems, enabling and empowering innovators across the healthcare spectrum, including pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer, and health tech sectors, to create and accelerate the delivery of life-saving, life-enriching health and wellness solutions to patients all over the world. The incubator will provide the facility for assessment of
Patent cell of AIIMS was established in the year 2000 to deal with the IPR and Technology Transfer related issues at AIIMS. IPR and Technology Transfer Division is managed by the IPR Management Committee chaired by the Dean (Research) as ex-officio. The IPR & Patent cell at AIIMS aims to stimulate innovation in the areas of Medical Sciences and Technology. The unit functions to safeguard the intellectual property rights of the inventor, support smooth mechanism for technology transfer and proportionate revenue share among stakeholders.
