Research at AIIMS is a part of our national endeavour to cultivate a scientific temper and is recognised for the quality of research not only nationally but also internationally. It has influenced global thinking in many frontier areas and has had a significant impact not only on patient care and management guidelines but also on national and global policies.

It is important for researchers to not only be technically proficient but also be able to manage or administer their research in an appropriate manner. The Scheme Cell, currently known as Research Section was set up in 1979 to coordinate and facilitate the activities of research projects running at AIIMS, New Delhi. While AIIMS attracts sizeable grants from national and international agencies, the Institution itself also offers modest research grants. Further the Research Section has taken up various new initiatives from time-to-time to build research infrastructure, research capacity and promote research activities and collaborations at AIIMS, New Delhi.
