‘Dr Surendra K Chawla’ Award for best Research Paper in the field of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery at AIIMS under AIIMS Endowment Fund.

The Research Section is introducing an Annual Research Award for Best Research paper in the field of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery, at AIIMS, New Delhi in the name of Dr. Surendra K Chawla under AIIMS Endowment Fund.

Dr. Surendra Chawla is a 1963 graduate of AIIMS who excelled in the field of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery. Dr. Chawla has had a long and illustrious career as a cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon in the United States. At the culmination of his career, Dr. Chawla was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at Saint Francis Hospital. Dr. Chawla retired from active clinical practice in 2018 and has continued with his passion for research and innovation.

Terms of Reference for the Award

• A call for awards for Best original research papers published/accepted for publication in the field of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery will be issued annually from AIIMS, New Delhi.
• Faculty, scientists and residents from the institute can apply.
• It is essential that the work submitted for consideration must have been carried out primarily at AIIMS, New Delhi.
• A review committee constituted by The Director, AIIMS will screen the submitted papers
• The awards will be given during Annual Research Day.
• Period of online publication or print publication should be between January to December.
• If the Paper has been submitted once (based on online publication date) it cannot be submitted again (based on print publication date) for the next year awards.
• The corresponding author should submit a copy of the paper published in the Research Section and mail at researchsection@aiims.edu .

The category of prizes will be:

• 1st prize  ( One) – Rs. 25,000/-
• 2nd prize  ( One) – Rs. 15,000/-
