Other administrative functions/activities
  1. The administrative wing provides approval from competent authority for different activities that are enshrined under the project budget e.g. giving permission for:
    1. travel by project staff,
    2. inviting external experts for meetings,
    3. hiring office space,
    4. hiring telephone and internet services
    5. hiring vehicles etc.
    6. verification of availability of travel funds for PI/Co-investigators under projects
    7. transfer of funds to other collaborating institutions as per provision in the project

These are done as per government of India rules and regulations and for certain items this process has to involve the stores and the accounts wings of the research section as well. Revision of salary of existing staff is done on recommendation of the PI after an approval for the same is obtained from the funding agency and funds are made available for the same. This wing also gives permission to research project staff applying for part time studies or, those applying for jobs elsewhere. Travel of faculty members from research funds of a project are also routed to research section by faculty cell for checking for availability of provision and funds in the said project.

The Research Section also looks after international travel of faculty and scientists. The Associate Dean (Research) scrutinizes the details of the conference that the faculty member proposes to attend, registration fees etc. and then sanction is given by Dean (Research) and further forwarded to Director for approval.
